Welcome to Big Mama's & Papa's Pizzeria - Pasadena

General Info

If you’re cruising along Colorado Boulevard and craving something hearty, Big Mama’s & Papa’s Pizzeria - Pasadena at 1772 E Colorado Blvd is one of those spots that immediately feels welcoming. This pizza restaurant has a laid-back, casual vibe that fits perfectly with Pasadena’s local energy, especially for college students looking for a satisfying lunch or a comfort food fix.

Walking in, the menu stands out right away. It’s simple, familiar, and focused on what they do best-pizza. But it’s not just any pizza. The portions here are generous, and the flavors lean toward classic, crowd-pleasing combinations. One of the first things I noticed was the Antipasto Salad. It’s fresh, balanced, and a great starter if you want something lighter before diving into the heavier dishes. The mix of ingredients feels thoughtfully put together, not rushed.

Now, the Hawaiian Pizza deserves a mention. It comes topped with homemade tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, Canadian bacon, and pineapple. The sauce has a rich, slightly tangy taste that ties everything together, while the cheese melts just right over the toppings. The balance between savory and sweet is spot on, making it an easy favorite for many regulars based on what I could tell from nearby tables.

That said, the real showstopper here is the 36-inch pizza with four different toppings. It’s the kind of dish that turns heads when it arrives. Perfect for sharing, especially if you’re with friends or classmates, it gives you variety without having to choose just one flavor. Each slice feels like its own mini experience, and it’s easy to see why this item gets so much attention in reviews.

Service-wise, Big Mama’s & Papa’s Pizzeria - Pasadena keeps things flexible. Whether you’re dining in, grabbing a quick lunch, or staying in, they offer delivery and even no-contact delivery, which adds a level of convenience that’s hard to overlook. It’s especially helpful for busy days or group hangouts where leaving the house isn’t ideal.

Overall, the experience feels genuine. The food is filling, the menu is approachable, and the location makes it easy to drop by. It’s the kind of place you return to when you want something reliable, flavorful, and comfortably familiar.

“ Time to update my review of Big Mama's and Papa's Pizza on East Colorado boulevard in Pasadena (see old review below). I've been enjoying the great food from this location for a long time.  Very convenient location near the corner of Colorado Boulevard and Allen Avenue. Extensive eclectic menu featuring appetizers, salads, sandwiches, pizzas and desserts. I like their chicken wings, chicken tenders, garlic bread with cheese, hand-tossed all-meat pizza, and Mexican pizza.  They have everything from slices to their famous gigantic pizza. Some items on the menu must be ordered in advance. Pies customizable with different crusts & toppings. The selection of sandwiches includes their famous Philly Cheesesteak. My personal favorite dessert is their Tiramisu. They have  some tables inside to accommodate customers. There is pick up available from either the front along Colorado Boulevard or from their rear parking lot. With such an extensive menu you can always find something good! I seem to order their pastas and calzones the most. The place is now Under New Management so I'm expecting some great changes. I was told that they will do some remodeling and look forward to that happening soon. Parking available on the street or around by the rear entrance. ”

“ I got a slice—it’s so big they cut it into four pieces. If you’re looking for European-style pizza, this is the place. Very tasty. I’ll definitely come back here again. ”

“ Biggest pizza slice I have ever had. Each slice was cut up into 4 sub-slices. The crust was amazing too, on the thinner side and perfectly crispy and crunchy. They did not hold back on the toppings either, really delicious. The owner was also very nice, he gave me a free bottle of water after I asked for a cup. ”

“ This pizza chain is famous for its Big Papa/Mama pizzas for parties. I got their one topping special and it was ok but nothing special compared to other pizza places. My order was on time and the guy up front was friendly. Street parking only next to Lucky Baldwins Pub. ”

“ BMPP was great place to get pizza! I made my order self pickup since I had lot of guest and live near by! I also met the owner and very cool guy and over all, my guest enjoy the pizza from BMPP! Matter of fact, I will order my pizza for Dodgers MLB playoff & for the UFC event! ⭐ ”

“ They are always very kind and make everything fresh. They handmake their pasta each morning, so if you want pasta, best either call to check if they have any left or go early. Their food has yet to disappoint. ”
